April, May and June, seem to have whizzed by but I am happy to say I have been busy, probably too much to think straight but here is a super quick review of the last few months.

April, a little crazy and busy with three events and prep for a larger one. It was the Gabriel Fine Art SLWA group show, the second I had been in and then almost at the same time came submissions for the "Curious Camera show" something I always try and submit to but never quite get there. Anyway this year I did submit and work was accepted and also to may great joy it received an "Honourable mention" absolutely over the moon or should I say sun!
Curious Camera is held at Arts eye Gallery Tuscon Arizona USA.

The piece was a solargraph, Urban Sunburn IV it had been left 'cooking' for three months Jan - Mar 2015

At the same time as this was happening I was prepping for the Format International Photogrpahy Festival to be held in Derby at The Photo Parlour. The exhibition was a group show with the theme "Unstable"

We had all been preparing ideas for a while and mulling over what we wee to include and how it would be presented, the show featured work by Melanie King, Nettie Edwards, Anthony Carr, Jo Gane and myself. The exhibition could best be described as an exploration of works that were designed to change, to challenge the concept that a photo is a fixed record of a moment, as evidence of the existence of something as proof that there 'was' an event. This was to be a light hearted and interactive exhibit.

I decided, eventually to include Lumen Prints that would be totally unfixed, the paper would also be degrading by the very fact that I was using extremely expired fifty year old Kodak Bromide II paper that hadn't been stored correctly and I really had no idea how it would behave. I had done test prints but had not left any of them out in direct sunlight after exposure for such a length of time. It was determined that the prints would remain covered until the last minute before PV and then we would see how they would fair in the light.

Surprisingly by the time I got to visit, there was still quite a lot to see and only aspects of some of them were diminishing quickly, considering they were opposite a window I was impressed. For the "playful" element to my piece I was to include an interactive exhibit. this after some deliberation became a print making kit that would allow the user to move "stencils" and laminated flowers over a length of Kodak Bromide paper which had been attached to foam board. The laminated sheets were then held on with pushpins, the results were really quite lovely, even if they were pockmarked with pin holes.

It was truly brilliant to be part of such a festival and I also got to meet Brian Griffin and see a preview of the film about him, I did like the packets of popcorn thrown out to us!

Beginning to catch up here and heading into May for a weekend long event at Stave Hill Rotherhithe South London.

Soundcamp and Reveil was held last year and I made pinholes and soalrgraphs in response to the brief. I wanted to capture the moments over the event from early sunrise to dusk and that would bmena long exposures. The time element was important to me, it hooked up with the duration of the event and the sequence of Soundcamp dawn chorus happenings that occiured around the planet in 24 hours.

Solargraph cameras were set up in four positions in London and due to the inclement if not dreary weather, it was decided that they would be placed for longer than the weekend in order to capture som efeint glimmer of sun on the paper. It sort of worked despite the rain and the gloom. Some of the positions here were just too dark and they didnt captur every much at all, others were better but still quite abstract and not as full of arcs of the sun or colour for that matter!

I also made a few pinhole photos with both my Da Vinci 4x5 and the Zero45, I obviously had some issues with these as I havent yet had a good print from the zero, which I am shocked at. it seems to have some leaking issues that I need to trace the source of befor doing more. either that or the paper was flookily fogged each time it went in the dark slide for that cam.

As part of the project htis year we, Grant Smith the head of the project, decided that the visual aspect to the event should be extended to all participating countries. I was to make soalrgraph cameras which would be postal tubes. these would act as the carrier for the rest of the project and they would also contain, amongst other things, a homemade matchbox pinhole camera that would be used for the duration of the event and then returned to myself for processing. I have had some baack already and the results are interesting and varied to say the least.

The solargraphs really are subject to the weather and luckily the one from Santorini was fabulous, depsite it being heavily creased in the return packaging. I have yet to recieve them all back and Im looing forward to seeing what was produced from sound artists. I do hope they had fun with them, as that was the idea as well.

Yikes!

One year since I last posted, well I've been busy the last few months and I would have loved to share all the goings on with you in a proper sequential order but I dont think that will now happen. This post may be a bit of an event splurge so hold onto your hat!

I wont bother to catch up on the events of last year, I may drop them into the post as I recall them though.
Briefly here we go month by month!

January 2015

This year started in a great way with an invitation to exhibit in Berlin at Karibuni as part of the Anlogue Now Festival, I said yes and then of course wondered what I would exhibit... thankfully that was taken out of my hands by Jan who chose the work and he decided he wanted to see three prints from my "Shots on a cold beach"series from 2010. I wanted to make them something to remember and so got the hand printed by Mike Crawford, a genius in the darkroom master printer and wonderful person. He incredibly managed to pull from the 35mm negs something rather beautiful and these were printed at about 7x7 on a 10 x 8 sheet, I can't quite recall what the paper was but I'll edit once I recall.
February and March 2015

February brought more interest and I got engrossed in work for another exhibit, "What is Urban" this was a group show with the SLWA, South London Women Artists and the show was held at Brixton East in Brixton South London. A marvellous venue and large space. The work this time was to be a series I had been working on anyway but when the theme presented itself to me It was perfect for it. The solargraphs are extremely long pinhole exposures using BW paper. The exposure is long enough that the sun will burn its trail across the paper and leave a record of its passage across the sky. I wanted to have elements of this passing between buildings in an urban city setting and also in a suburban and wider setting by using gardens and allotments. The resulting images became a series called "Urban Sunburn I-XII"

These are small examples of some of the pieces, they were produced as Giclée's for this exhibit and kept to a small size due to exhibition constraints. I did however produce large C-Types of them also. The exhibition had a marvellous response and very good feedback for all involved. This was my first exhibition with SLWA and I am very happy to be a member of a diverse and dynamic group of artists.

Format International Photography Festival 2015

This month was amazing also and I wsa extremely fortunate to be invited as a member of the London Alternative Photography Collective to exhibit at The Format International Photography Festival in Derby. The show was displayed at The Photo Parlour and the theme was "Unstable" The concept being the all the works were fugitive, unfixed ephemeral.

I was to include Lumen prints and also an interactive piece which the visitors would be able to handle and create their own works. I had been doing Lumen prints for many years and exploring the relationship between the fragility of the image capture with this method. The Series would be plant based and the lumens would be made in my garden and at my allotment. I wanted to capture the brief moments between the plants fullness of life and the moment they are picked the obvious and inevitable withering and decline. The images would be unfixed and would be hung as they were made unframed and pinned to the wall through the existing holes I had used for the skewers which attached them to the ground. The addition of the extremely expired Kodak Bromide II paper added to the equation, the delicate purple colour that was created with the unfixed prints was much more pleasing than a fixed brown that this paper would produce. It was fascinating to visit them and see how much they had either faded or darkened.

Below is my description for the pieces which became known as, "Evernescent Growth"

“Unstable" as a theme, was perfect for the ephemeral processes I use. These Lumen prints are made on extremely expired Kodabrom II RC paper, they are not fixed, they will change during the duration of the exhibit. The conscious decision to not fix them reinforces the already unstable nature of the process, the variables that exist in the making of the image, it’s dependency on ultra violet light to make the image and to also destroy it. The subject matter is based around the allotment I have, I grow the plants not just to eat but also to use as emulsions in other processes. The need for good levels of light whilst growing also applies to the creation of these images, the organic and inorganic matter that is laid upon them, the times of day and the duration of exposure all have a significant effect on the results.

London Pinhole Festival Doomed Gallery Dalston 24-26 April

The weekend started with the opening of the pinhole show, fabulous range of pinholes from many countries, There were some beautiful prints from Mike Crawford and Sheila Mckinney, James Webber, Amy Rockett-Todd, myself and many others. Curated by Melanie King Director of LAPC and Ken Flaherty, Director of Doomed Gallery. The PV was rammed and it was great to see so many turn up form other countries including Nancy Breslin, delighted to meet her in person.

This year I was doing the Pinhole day workshop and the plan was to make matchbox pinhole cameras, introduce the group to the world of pinhole and the variety of cameras that can be made from many objects and then to make the images and get those processed and reviewed all in one day. The ten participants all seemed to have reasonable results considering the drab weather conditions and many have gone on to make their own cameras after this. it was great to receive feedback and exciting to see the images that had been produced even if some where quite abstract.

I decided to exhibit some work from my visit to New York and included three related frames showing pinholes of crossings, bridges such as the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. It wsa also a great pleasure to finally meet Nancy Breslin a fantastic photographer from the USA and someone I have known online for a while thanks to flickr.
The Death and Decay Series explores the relationship between the essence of the former life of the subject and the chemical breakdown and transition into another form. Captured using long exposures, these images portray elements associated with death and new growth through transformation.

It was a sunny day, perfect for some Pinhole Portraits in Ridley Road Market. The tent was erected just outside from Doomed Gallery. I was amused to find that they were actually going to be made slap bang in the middle of the market, so not for the easily embarrassed or the faint hearted as plenty of people were watching and trying to get past as the camera was set up.

I had some of my family with me and a friend and fellow photographer had come along to also get a portrait made. The camera was a Chinese 4x5 with double dark slides, I'm afraid the name escapes me.

We stood and the portraits were made and the negs taken into the gallery, sadly we haven't seen the finished results yet but a contact sheet was made of some of the images. Below are some shots from during the session and also a couple of them from the contact taken with an iPhone.

I was due to go back the next day to collect the work and hopefully see the portraits up, unfortunately they weren't, such is the nature of analogue, expect the unexpected!

In action digital shots of the event.

It's all been completely manic and a bit of a fast turn around but I shall be exhibiting "Sharing the Moment" as an example of Pinhole. I am amongst some amazing photographers including Becky Ramotowski who is ultimately responsible for my knowing about the festival at all, so here's a shout out for her and to Melanie King the organiser.

Sharing the Moment was made a while ago as part of a series based around the beach of my childhood. It was a serious lesson in nostalgia, growing up and away and the passage of time that all life must endure, the series looked into the transience of the figure in the landscape both at the coast and further inland. The draw of the coastal setting was important to me because I needed to capture moments in time that reflected the ephemeral nature of the figure against an ever changing background.
The title caught my imagination, much like the net of a lepidopterist and I knew which photos I had to submit.

I had been doing a series of Lumen Prints and after my death and decay series with the mouse I had followed with the moths, The Ephemeral Lumen Moth I-IV

This will be going on show soon at PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury Vermont USA and I'm very honoured to be amongst such wonderful photographers and some amazing images. There will also be an exhibition book/catalogue to support the exhibition, this is sold through Blurb.

It is also good news to hear that, regarding Blurb photo books they will now also be available through Amazon, certainly more scope for distribution and exposure. It has been a long time coming and as long as the details and costs aren't prohibitive it may actually be very useful!
I can't believe I actually managed to do them considering I had been admitted to hospital during the week with a ridiculously aggressive reaction to an insect bite of some description. Anyway drugged up and raring to go I got on with the rather oversubscribed Lumen print workshop on the Saturday and to be honest I was quite relieved when I had a couple of cancellations due to the intense heat. Needless to say these were filled within moments by casual visitors wondering what we were up to.
The weather was perfect for printing and very soon there were a number of makeshift tables and low brick walls covered in contact frames cooking in the sunshine. It was stifling and I was amazed how people stuck it out, though the run on ice creams in the café was stupendous. The day was very relaxed with people making their images and then going off to look at other things or just hanging around and talking about the processes.
I had discussed doing Lumens on film as well and a couple of eager photographers who had some expired film with them took the challenge and decided to try it on some Ilford. I would love to see their results.
Talking about results there is a lovely blog entry by a friend who took part in a number of the workshops, here you can see some of the results.

I was very fortunate to have a number of enquiries and requests to do more workshops which I shall follow up and also a 'demand' to have my work exhibited, Looks like it may be a busy summer!
It came the other day and I am delighted to share with you the fact that I have a tiny little entry in this amazing book.
I would like to thanks Jill for using one of my Lumens and adding me to the "Fugitive and not so Fugitive Printing" section, it really is an honour to be part of this and if you haven't got your copy yet and you are into this more experimental side of photography, I suggest you get yours now, it is busting with information.
The Photgraph that has been used was made a while ago using a Lumen on film technique. I found the colours absolutely brilliant when I first tried this.

I am again exhibiting at Grow Mayow Community Gardens this year as part of the "Little Greens" for Sydenham Arts Festival The first weekend has gone really well and the two workshops I did were well attended and I believe from the responses of those that attended that they "Loved it" "Wow""What a cool workshop" and ""That was the best way to start my holiday"!

The first workshop Camera Obscura was designed so that everyone would come away with a working Camera Obscura so that they could either use it to take photos through like TTV(through the viewfinder) so that you get lovely dreamy inverted images or if you were a child doing it you could come away with what could be a very cool looking steampunk telescope once finished with papier maché. I forgot to take pictures during the actual workshop but some SAF photographers had done so, I just await their images...

here are some post workshop of a couple using them.
The second workshop held on the Sunday was again well attended and we all sat outside in the glorious sunshine making Matchbox Pinhole Cameras, a little less taxing and not quite as hard on the hands the cameras came together as expected and I'm looking forward to seeing the results if any from those that came, I just hope they send some in to me. The cameras were all finished and promptly used in the gardens after discussing perspective exposure hand holding them and multiple exposures amongst other things.

Here are some of the people making and using their cams!
Whilst I was doing the workshops I was also exhibiting in this space and when I first saw the room I was a little dubious, it had an incredible amount of detritus inside as it was normally used as a children's science/playroom but after seeing the back wall and the wallpaper that was covering it I just couldn't resist. It was moths large brown repeat pattern moths in a faded gold, the edges were distressed and the paper curling but it just seemed right to use this space. It looked ideal to become an installation as well.
My Ephemeral Moth series would look perfect in here it would hopefully not be lost but would look captured, it would be part of a large room of caught objects and ephemera including all my other lumens.
The exhibition is still up and I hope to get more interest and feedback this weekend. I had some really fantastic comments and new subscribers, sales and promise of exhibition space and calls for more workshops. I managed to sell cards and books... fingers crossed for this weekend and let the sun be kind again as I need a lot of doing an oversubscribed Lumen Printing workshop!
I was doing rather a lot of lumen prints and while at a festival had been looking at all the tents around me and I was chatting with friends.

I had been looking at someone quite intently for some time and then I looked away and stared at the side of the bell tent, I had a 'vision' an afterimage so clear that since we had been discussing the Turin shroud and how the oils etc may have created the image on the cloth it seemed only fitting that I would try and recreate this apparition as a lumen print.

I don't have particularly oily skin but seeing as it was high summer and we were slathered in sun cream I thought this would act as a suitable barrier.

The second image has just been auto corrected in PS to bring out the image more nothing else was done. I do actually like the original image and I was quite pleased with the way the face appeared.

So I used grade 1 Ilford paper and got my subjects to start on one side of their face and roll the paper to the other, much like the cloth would be if draped over a face. These were then put out into the sun for four hours under glass. My subject for the first image had a moustache and beard and this can clearly be seen on the paper. The dark areas are where the sun has managed to reach the surface of the paper and it started to change quite quickly.
Over the summer I started doing a number of experiments using the process of Lumen Printing.I have been doing Lumens for some time and also doing small workshops but this summer I got the opportunity to do some experiments for myself. One of them was a rather spontaneous affair. I was presented one day with a mouse, a dead one, our cat is young and doesn't quite get the hunter thing and so has only just started using his 'skills'

This poor little corpse had been placed in quite a ceremonious way in the centre of a circular patch of earth in our garden(post paddling pool)
Well, what was I supposed to do with this gift, It seemed only fitting and appropriate that it joined the selection of flowers and moths and other ephemera being Lumen Printed in the garden. The little body was laid out on a sheet of BW Ilford Ilfospeed grade 1 paper and a sheet of glass laid upon it's delicate little form, much like the lid on a coffin made for Snow White!
The first image was set out for a day, I don't really know why I just didn't do the normal few hours but I think the sky was a little dull. Subsequent images varied form a day to actually being left for ten of them as I forgot and went on Holiday. It did not seem to do that one any harm.
Each time the mouse was moved it was carefully slid across onto another piece of paper so as not to damage it, though after the second day it was more like a popsicle on its very stiff tale than I would have imagined.
My original intent was to record the whole process of decomposition from day one, until it became skeletal and the print would have just had a selection of bones surrounded by flora, unfortunately this has been cut short by the intervention of some rather desperate and inconsiderate animal with a serious lack of discerning taste buds. One morning I came out to find that after almost four weeks or so of work the contact frames that had been lying out in the sun had all been turned over and the photo paper was strewn all over the garden. It wasn't the wind, as no interest had been paid to the other prints as they were not containing rather smelly decaying 'meat' believe me I searched around for them but they had gone.
I was a little dismayed as the body was reducing and it would have been great to see the intact skeleton but maybe this is too macabre. I was so focused on producing the prints and creating a series, anyway I have ten images of this mouse.

I had also been 'given' another to work with but that too had gone and so it was back to the flora and fauna and insect world for me until I am graced with another one from my mad cat.
I was cutting back the plant jungle in my front garden one morning during the summer and looking down I could see the beautiful remains of the leaves on the concrete and surrounding these were black stains. These stains were from the Ficcus plant, which was hanging over the wall and above the pavement. This got me thinking that if the concrete was a suitable substrate for the juice and it seemed pretty difficult to remove with water then what would it be like if it was on paper!

I removed some of the berries which form in interesting bunches. The berries were hard and black, difficult to crush under ones fingers and so I used a pestle and mortar and started pulping them. It takes some time to get a bunch of these berries crushed enough, they are rich in colour but need to have a liquid added in order to carry that colour.

I used rainwater which was there in front of me, lazy I know but I wanted to keep it as natural as possible. I made enough to push through a small sieve and remove any of the grittier bits that were from the husks and the seeds.

I suppose I got enough liquid to cover approximately an A4 piece a couple of times. I coated an A6 watercolour paper from a Windsor and Newton pad and did this twice allowing the first layer to dry in the dark and then I let the second layer dry in the dark as well.

I made a digital negative from a Sprocket Rocket picture of a Tree that I had used before and the contrast was quite high on this so the image is quite graphic. This was quite a dense image and I used OHP transparency paper for the substrate.I only used one layer as the black seemed opaque enough.

Now here comes the long part. Once in the contact frame, it was placed outside for about a week and then the weather wasn't so favourable, so it got moved around indoors wherever the sun was shining through the large french windows, until it made it up to the studio where it sat in front of the doors there for at least another three weeks sunbathing!

In all I think it was in the frame exposing for about eight weeks. I did check halfway through this period and there didn't seem to be that much definition so I left it. I'm quite happy with the results and I do wonder what they would have been like if we had had more of a sun filled summer in the U.K. but I don't mind waiting.
I'm going to try a different paper this time and see what that is like. The images I sent in were amongst the earlier ones I have taken with the 120. The larger 120 format has three pinholes situated around the cylinder and it was with a combination of these that I made the images. The softness that you get from the curved film plane means that the blending is subtle and the images can be quite abstract if you so wish. Employing unusual juxtapositions within one image.
I had made a number of images in the series that these were taken from and they were based around a local nature reserve. The used image is called Dandelion.

Across April and May I had an exhibition at Alhambra Home and Garden, the private view went very well and I sold work and had a lot of interest to the point where I was 'subjected' to an impromptu filming session and had to answer questions about my work, there is nothing like that for making you think on your feet.
On Saturday 28th April,in advance of World Pinhole Photography Day on the 29th I did a Pinhole Workshop for adults, it was an intimate affair using the small back room of the gallery space and we certainly had a laugh while making cylinder pinhole cams from card. I am reviewing my expectations about manual dexterity and the way adults use power tools as a result!I still haven't seen the results but I am hoping they used their cams which despite gluing issues went together well enough to get an image and do some initial experimentation.I intend to do some more with adults, there seems to be a lot of interest and I think it will be good to keep the momentum going. There are also
The Alhambra show eventually came down after a nice two to three week extension. During this time I think someone used the books that I had on show as a catalogue and decided to order from one of them. I hadn't considered them for that purpose but I may do in future.Kylewishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14704023622662995337noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5381445869594306929.post-82766832339692505842012-06-10T00:36:00.000+01:002012-06-10T00:36:13.114+01:00
As I write this I imagine that the Plastic Fantastic III artists reception and exhibition opening is in full swing at Lightbox and I just wish I was there to meet everyone! The Tree was made with a Lomo Sprocket Rocket and was multiple exposed in Ruskin park in South London. I was doing a shoot for some locations and it was still early spring, the trees were not yet wearing their leaves and the wonderful branches and twigs were a tangle against the sky. It seemed only appropriate to look up and make pictures of the silhouettes and of course to turn the camera a number of ways to give me layers of twig upon branch, the textures that resulted were very much like a batik or some cloth, I love the way this one turned out and there are a couple more like it.

I am absolutely chuffed to bits though to tell you that two of my submissions, Not Pandora's Box and Sharing the Moment, were chosen by juror Susan Burnstine. I have no idea how many submissions she had to look through but I am utterly gobsmacked to have both in this exhibiton and do not envy her having to make that difficult decision.
Not Pandora's Box is currently on show at Photoplace Vermont for the 'In Your Dreams' exhibition so I'm doubly honoured to have that showing in two places. Sharing the Moment is also on show in London at the Alhambra show and I'm pleased it's getting a new audience in the USA, though it has been shown at the Curious Camera show as well.Kylewishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14704023622662995337noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5381445869594306929.post-57097077953691252092012-04-10T00:15:00.001+01:002012-04-10T00:47:09.396+01:00New Exhibition for April at the Alhambra South London

I have one week, A new exhibition is going up at the Alhambra Home and Garden, a lovely Spanish themed shop with exhibition space and tea room. The shop can be found in what is now known as Kirkdale Village at 148 Kirkdale Sydenham South London I'm going to do a mixed theme for this one as it was sort of sprung on me and I'm currently working on a new series that will hopefully be ready to show in a couple of months.
I have also been asked by the proprietor Rebecca to do a workshop and as it is World Pinhole Photography Day I thought it would be ideal to show some budding pinholers how to convert the most mundane items of rubbish into cameras.
There is nothing quite like the focus of pulling together some images for a show to make you wonder what direction you are taking. It's all a bit hazy and I'm still pondering!Kylewishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14704023622662995337noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5381445869594306929.post-2604179980616555282012-02-27T23:47:00.000+00:002012-02-27T23:49:40.545+00:00Pinhole Lomokino FilmsI got the Lomokino when it came out, sucker for the moving image I suppose but I figured out what they were making and couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I have made a few short test films over the past few months, nothing that I would assign any grander title to really but I am working towards better ideas that have been brewing since I started to get back the various results from my endeavours. Once I established that my Lomokino wasn't functioning as well as could be expected and I adjusted that it made a vast difference to the flow of the film.Always check the springs on the reverse of the front of your cam, the ones that are supposed to hold the film down, if they are not proud of the casing they will be redundant.
I was asked by Lomography to produce two pinhole films for them, maybe it was due to the pinhole reputation I have but believe me making a film is a whole different ball game. After doing the modifications to the Lomokino(see below) I then went ahead with making some mad films. An extremely long process and the most important thing to remember with the Kino would be a tripod as having three hands is essential!

I made a basic shutter from a film can cap and used the ubiquitous black insulation tape to hold it on. So it was a case of with tripod, lift the flap, count, close the flap, wind on,it takes a little while to get into the rhythm of it but once you do you are away. My pinhole worked out at f450 a little too small for short indoor exposures and so on one of my films my poor subject was rather numb with pain! The ideal f-stop should be more in the region of f98 I believe, so I shall be remaking that one in due course.

"Myopic Tree Moments" was named to reflect the lack of sharpness with this particular pinhole, though it seems getting a really pinsharp image with this may be problematic. My little helper was very obliging and considerate of the slow process, each frame was about three seconds in the dull, snowy light and as we neared the end she remarked, "I can't feel my adult toes" we called it a day after this!
"Crime of passion" came about as an idea I had had to do with another camera but I thought it would be fun for this, unfortunately the definition I wanted with the image showing all the different cameras and what they were upto was not quite there. I do think the general impression is okay though... consumed with a passion for cameras and film!Kylewishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14704023622662995337noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5381445869594306929.post-72580488390662628202012-02-23T23:39:00.000+00:002012-02-23T23:39:07.078+00:00In Your Dreams ExhibitionThe title for this one is highly appropriate, I entered "In Your Dreams" at the last minute (as usual) because I wasn't sure it was the right time for me to enter anything at the moment. I'm too distracted, I have been making crazy 35mm films and spending time trying to get the new allotment plot in order as well as attempting to go through the ridiculous back log of negatives that are unprocessed.
To my great surprise and honour I had a pinhole accepted into the show and thank you to Susan Burnstine juror for choosing "Not Pandora's Box"

Going with your gut feeling is sometimes well worth the risk!Kylewishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14704023622662995337noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5381445869594306929.post-16517912445805487702012-01-16T17:54:00.002+00:002012-01-16T17:54:27.085+00:00Hello 2012!It's half way through January and today was supposed to be the most depressing day of the year, Blue Monday! well I survived and in fact thought it was rather beautiful with a crisp winter blue sky and lots to do.
I have been busily absorbed scanning, what seems like millions of frames of the Lomography Lomokino 35mm Film camera, I have taken about ten films so far and processed, using various methods just three. It takes an age to do one film but I am not complaining it is so much fun to see the final film. I have not used iMovie much before now and so the learning curve has been steep.
I have plans for many more films, themes that are not particularly apparent in any of these early tests. At the moment it would be fair to say that I'm still getting to grips with its little inconsistencies and temperamental nature.I'm not sure if other people find that their Kino misfires which is extrremely annoying and makes playing it back manually through the Kinoscope pointless as the frames slip and all you ever see is the interframe spacing. Anyway I have an idea for a longer film something that has been part of a still project.
Many years ago in my former life as an illustrator and printmaker I illustrated a book, an old tale of a journey, it is this that I shall revisit but in film and photographic form. Pinholes and hand cranked film!Kylewishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14704023622662995337noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5381445869594306929.post-13497515288165865512011-12-21T15:22:00.001+00:002012-08-29T11:42:39.301+01:00lomo lovers vol.5 - Panoramic

lomo lovers vol.5 - Panoramic, a photo by nicnocnoo on Flickr.

I did a pinhole tipster for this publication and it features a few of my images.
