The Return, Light Leaks and Deisel

Yesterday evening my lonely traveller of a husband returned after being seriously delayed by the ash cloud, Hooray! finally we are all back together and the youngest can now sleep well!
Today I won a rumble on Lomo, the Light Leaks rumble win was totally out of the blue and absolutely unexpected, over 1800 submissions which were outstanding 'accidents' (as they described them) I'm very grateful!
Well with all this going on and one hell of a week behind me, my car decided to show me it was feeling neglected with a lovely warning "ENGINE FAILURE WORKSHOP" enough to strike terror into the heart of any car owner, so I turned it around and dropped off the kids at the door and drove the one mile to my thankfully very local "workshop" the outcome is yet to be told!

A cheering boost while I wait for his return!

The last five days have been somewhat a blur, a rush to find out news and try to work out how, when and where my loved one might be coming back to this country (U.K.) we have considered many options but the thought of canoeing across the Atlantic doesn't fill me with hope. Flights continue to be cancelled and what with the lack of other modes of transport from the USA time and waiting seems to be the thing to do.
At the moment a flight is booked but then that has happened before so getting ones hopes up again is maybe premature.

Yesterday was a mix of emotions, I had just found out that the volcano was again happily spewing it's cloud of stillness across Europe and so the flight was cancelled and then my brief visit to LOMO meant I noticed a ridiculous number of hits (sadly not normal) anyway I had won "Lomo Home of the Day", an award that attracts a lot of attention from fellow Lomographers, A big thanks to all those who visit my home and left likes, comments and congrats!

While writing this the UK Civil Aviation Authority has reopened British Airspace from 22:00, I have to go tell someone.... thank god for Twitter! So much faster than the news agencies.

Silence Above Frustration Below!

I'm waiting at the moment to find out when my darling hubby will be able to return home, Icelands Eyjafjallajokull volcano erupted on Wednesday and it leaves most of Western Europe and Scandinavia without air travel, now normally I could be jumping for joy as the sky above will be silenced and of course 'silence is golden' but this time around it leaves me with mixed feelings as across that great expanse of Atlantic water is my other half wondering when he'll be able to return. On the guardian site(borrowed from this site) there is currently a picture of the volcano using imaging equipment, it's not for the faint hearted, it could be from a horror movie. I'm sure for the Icelanders suffering due to this explosion it has become much like their worst nightmare.

Pinhole workshop for Lomo GS London

Last week, yes it's been a while but It's a mad house here! anyway I was asked by Adam Scott to come and do a guest speak at the lomo Gallery store London , the subject pinholes. I accepted must have been in a drunken stupor as I was asked at the launch party of the Dietrich Collection . I managed to get up the next morning and was not as prepared as I would have liked but took along some images as examples and talked my way through the 'techniques' I had used to capture/create the images.
The workshop was in fact centred around the use of the Diana+ and it's pinhole feature a group of about ten to fifteen adults left the store with cams in hand and a whole new experience awaiting them, we headed into Carnaby St. went off to Wardour through Soho, Piccadilly Circus and stood in the middle of the busiest crossing in London Oxford Circus, hopefully some shots of the thronging crowd will be captured, the day was a bit dull and we only had a few moments of brighter sunlight.
My rolls are not all processed yet, too much to do this week!

Dietrich Collection @ the Lomostore London

It was party time at the LGS London on friday night and I was able to be their with my 'lovely' Hubby, we had a good gab and a drink with some lomo friends and the collection of Dianas and clones was impressive if not totally mad, with some of the new adaptations from commissioned artists and illustrators. The Urban Vignettes exhibition was also on show at the back of the store and I was lucky enough to have an arm load of Diana shots in it!
Followed by a curry which is something I've not had for many years due to confinement with young children! A night out wow! Adam of the LGSL asked me before leaving if I would give an impromptu 'guest speak' on pinholes the next morning, I must say the thought of getting up early was not the most tempting idea of the evening but as my next post might show, well I did manage it.
